Mokume Quarters Class-2013

Description: Tax time is almost upon us. Let’s use money as our raw material. Each student will make 2 billets from provided quarters (which are not worth a nickel any more). One will become a thin disk, the other a square bar. You will then manipulate the billet to bring out the pattern.
Tools: Tongs – pick up, flat, 1/2″ square, 3/8″ square, hammers, chisels, hacksaw, jewelers saw, flatter, touch mark.
Safety equipment: Safety glasses and earplugs are mandatory. Other items that could be brought include cotton clothing, gloves, leather shoes or boots.
Lunch: Bring sack lunch or town is 4 miles away.
