Informal hammer-in May 10, 2014
May 10, 2014 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Martin Pansch is hosting an “informal” hammer-in at his farm on Saturday, May 10, 2014. His goal is to work on his “Iron in the Hat” entry, but read the quotes from Martin below to learn the full flavor of this hammer-in!
“The scheduling gods have taken pity on me and I am actually going to have a free weekend on 10-11 May. I intend to spend some time in my shop working on a tool for my entry for the Iron In The Hat. For those of you who are not lured away by fishing opener I extend an invitation to join me on the 10th.
“I have several coal and a couple gas forges, enough anvils to go around, and a number of other tools that might be helpful in making your tool (saws, Oxy/Acetylene, MIG, grinders, power hammers, etc.) I have a decent selection of material to unless you need something exotic or of a specific dimension. If you have your own hand tools bring them but if you don’t I have an okay collection to share. All you really need to bring is your safety gear (glasses, ear plugs, etc).
“My shop isn’t huge, I can handle maybe 12-15 people working there before we start running into each other. With the dual restrictions of fishing opener and me living in eastern Siberia I am guessing it won’t be too much of a problem. If I get an overwhelming response we will figure out something.
“While I plan on getting some work done myself I would be more than happy to offer advice and help to anyone who is pushing the envelope of their forge abilities. Don’t think that coming out requires you to work on something for IITH either, that is just what I am working on. Getting a start on a fork for the Madness contest is another option as is anything else you have in mind.
“For lunch I’ll fire up the grill and make some burgers or brats or the like. If you are a picky eater you might want to bring your own food/beverages. You can bring something to share for lunch or snacks if you want but it is not necessary.
“If you are considering coming please give me a heads up so I can plan logistics.”
