April 2017 Membership Meeting

The Guild of Metalsmith (TGoM) members and guests will meet on Wednesday, April 12 in Hudson, Wisconsin.
Nick Heinen will host us at his workshop at 220 Monroe St., North Hudson, WI 54016 (map below).
The usual agenda will be followed by a program/demo focused on learning basic blacksmithing techniques through the creation of whimsical animal heads. Larry Wasmund and Guild friends will demonstrate.
TGoM’s publication, The Iron Menagerie, which provides step-by-step photographed instructions for animal heads (similar to those that will be demonstrated) will be on sale during the meeting. If you already own a copy, you might want to bring it along, but put your name on it as they all look alike. Pete Stanaitis, and Bob and Mary Fredell will be displaying some of their completed animal heads for more intimate viewing. Nick says his forge will be hot, and the demonstrations along with works in progress will surely fill the spotlight for this special spring evening. Plan to meet at Nick’s shop onWednesday, April 12 by 6:30 pm for the potluck (bring a dish to pass); then the business meeting and “show ‘n tell” of members’creations will begin before 7 pm, followed closely by the demonstrations!
