April 2013 Membership Meeting

The April 10 TGoM membership meeting will be held at Arms & Armor workshop. The folks at Arms & Armor will be giving an overview on their company, what they make, and how they make it. Their workshop will be the scene, located at 1101 Stinson Blvd in Minneapolis.

TGoM will meet there at 6:30 pm for potluck dinner, with the presentation by Arms & Armor staff following a quick business meeting. This should prove to be a fascinating evening. Don’t forget to bring your own show n tell items too!

EVENT UPDATE: Craig Johnson will present information on late 13th century manuscript recipes for hardening and softening steel to make tools and weapons. This talk, on how a medieval smith would work, is based on Craig’s paper and a “User’s Manual” he delivered at a Medieval Conference in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Arms & Armor, founded in 1982, crafts a variety of items in the Medieval and Renaissance styles. It was founded by Chris Poor, a former professional jouster with a life-long interest in weapons and armor. Chris’s first-hand experience and scholarly research will provide us with a working knowledge of weapons and armor. Visit their website: ttp://www.armor.com.

There is a parking lot behind the building. Parking as also available at “Metler Auto” across the street and on the street as well.
